hayden silas anhedönia known professionally as ethel cain is an american born singer from florida. her music has been under the genres of ambient, contemporary folk and indie rock. she has released 3 eps under the ethel name. carpet bed, golden age and inbred. she released her debut album preachers daughter in 2022 and just recently released another ep named perverts. her music has heavy topics such as religion, sex and violence.

i found out about ethel on pinterest i'm pretty sure around february of 2023. i remember listening to gibson girla dn i just fell in love. i listened to her a lot during that following summer. her eps are my favourite and i do listen to her unreleased music sometimes. she got inspired to make music by nicole dollanganger!! who are still friends.

sunday morning from her golden age ep is my favourite song by her, it helped me so so much during the fall of 2023 when i was in an abusive relationship. this song is about leaving an abusive relationship so listening to it gave me the strength to leave. her music really speaks to me and i find solace in her writing.
